Antoine Simutone, also known as Aaron, 38, of Park Avenue, was hit at 8:45 p.m. Saturday at the intersection of Park and Olive streets, said Av Harris, the City of Bridgeport's director of legislative affairs/public policy.

When officers patrolling the area came on the scene they found a 1997 Toyota Corolla pinning Simutone on the northbound travel lane of Park Avenue.

Officers alerted emergency responders who were able to remove him from under the vehicle, police said,

He was transported via ambulance to Saint Vincent's Hospital where he later died.

It appears the accident occurred when the driver of a white 2001 Ford Explorer hit Simutone on Park Avenue when he was crossing the street. The SUV stopped approximately two hundred feet from the impact area, police said.

Seconds later,  the second driver of the tan 1997 Toyota Corolla subsequently hit Simutone again and traveled a short distance before ending up in the northbound travel lane of Park Avenue. The roadway was wet from recent rain showers, police said.

The SUV driver, Richard Castellano, 21, of Bridgeport and the Corolla operator David Rojas, 28, of Bridgeport, are cooperating with police.

The case is being investigated by Officer John Perry and Lt. Tom Minar.
